Letting Go — Sung

to let go – SUNG | Dojo Baharim

Although Tai Chi students hear the word "relaxation" more than any other word, its meaning is still not understood - because the word "relaxation" Sung Expresses certain ideas that are not found in the English or Hebrew language.

The average Tai Chi student does not know how to release the "excess tension" in certain muscles. Furthermore, with the exposure of Eastern teachings to the world, most people in the West think that relaxation is the ultimate goal of the practice. And so, when the teacher says to the student, "You must let go" the student tries to demonstrate body and consciousness - Mind calm, and then again the teacher will confuse the student by saying, "No, no, you have to let go!".

The reason for this confusion is very simple; The student understands the state of relaxation as a state in which the person sits down in a comfortable armchair and sinks into a deep rest, passive, unconscious and not on guard. Such a situation has no place in the practice of Tai Chi Chuan. Sung  In Tai Chi Chuan it is a balance between Yin and Yang, which combines the hard and the soft.  Easy to say but combining these forces is difficult to do. for example, "Spear Hand" The stiff and tense expresses maximum yang, vs "The Dead Hand" which expresses the lack of awareness and maximum wine. The extreme situation or the combination of half hard and half soft is not correct. Correct situation  of the "hand of tai chi" is calm, or Sung, so that, if necessary, he can immediately move to any extreme situation that is required. And so in a fraction of a second the hand can become extreme yang to attack, or extreme yin to escape. And immediately after that there is an immediate return to state ESung-.

practice e Sung - conserves energy like money in a bank. It is not necessary to exert effort during the practice by worrying about the money hidden between the mattresses, but to behave calmly and calmly as if your money were placed in a safe in a safe place. When the energy is conserved and the body and consciousness are peaceful, the energy Chi  flow to all parts of the body.

Desire to flow this energy when the body is stiff A common mistake among beginners. Nevertheless, there is no need to worry too much about this because over time the practice of Sung will relax the tense muscles. It is known that the muscles relax automatically when theMind –  Relax and the emotions are quiet. this is theSung  To which the student should aspire.

This calm awareness appears in nature. A snake during hibernation is not completely relaxed - otherwise it will die. He is consciously resting as he conserves his energy with the intention of reappearing in the spring. A tree that loses its leaves in winter does not die but enters a conscious state of rest or Sung , not giving up completely but waiting for what will come.

In general, the ultimate goal in the practice of Tai Chi Chuan combines the acquisition of skill in the field of combat and at the same time energy renewal. The awareness of these goals must be found within the idea of the Sung -.  reaching the situation Sung leads to the next stage and it is "sunset" Chen , which is extremely essential for achieving a good fighting ability, because only when the artist is able to let go and sink can he also fight effectively.

additional importance to  Sung It is in relation to energetic renewal, with age the person loses his ability to sink Chen and become more rigid, Sung can help fill in what is lost and also stabilize and even strengthen the existing.
