Seek Peace Within

Seek peace within Dojo Baharim

I wrote this article about 20 years ago under the title "Peace starts from within".  Then someone commented and said: "Yes, it's true, but the violence also starts from within." I thought how true this is and when I realized that actually everything starts and depends on us, what determines is where we will take what happens in our paths.
And yes, the only place to find peace is within us.

Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art, to some extent it is the art of peace. A complete contradiction?!…
For the western person who is not used to Chinese thinking - maybe. This culture is founded on apparent opposites, which create each other, and enable each other's existence. So is Tai Chi - the path that is open to everyone.

The "adversary", standing in front of us, we do not come to defeat but to learn from him.  He is only in our boa, which allows us to look inside and understand ourselves better.  The "fighting" is not with another person but with the "adversary" within us.  It can be stray thoughts, physical pain, impatience and tolerance, nervousness, fear - everyone has their own "adversaries".

This "war" aims at peace, peace within us. Regular daily practice of Tai Chi brings to the surface all the "adversaries", consciously and unconsciously, and gives us an opportunity to come to terms with them.

As the old legend says that there are two wolves within us. The good wolf (the good instinct) and the bad wolf (the bad instinct) fighting each other. Who do you think will win…….
The one we feed them more.

True peace comes from within. The more the circles of harmony and peace reach deeper places in our body, the more the circles of peace with our environment expand.

The art of fighting is a way to peace.
